Art as an outlet: Music Photography

I believe that art can be an incredible outlet for mental health. In the past I’ve used photography. While these photos don’t express anyone else’s mental health, they are an outlet for my own. These images freeze a moment where I found beauty, happiness, magic and more. Freezing a moment in time, and being able to revisit it, is an amazing ability. To go back and remember the finite details, the smells, the sights, the sounds and the feelings. That is what I love about photography.

These particular photos are all taken from concerts and festivals I’ve been to. As a lover of music, I find live music such an amazing, visceral escape.  Some of my happiest memories are founded in the photos.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Everything to do with Sex Show in Halifax with a friend. It was honestly one of the best experiences ever. Everyone that was there was so comfortable with each other, their bodies, and of course, sex. It was refreshing to be in an atmosphere that regarded sex openly, and enthusiastically. It was incredible to see people embrace their fetishes, as strange as I might have found them (re: infant play and pet play, they will never be for me).
